VADITO, NM - Sipapu Ski and Summer Resort, New Mexico’s year-round destination for family-friendly, family fun, has the best mountain operator and customer in New Mexico, according to the state’s association of ski resorts.
On Saturday night, General Manager John Paul Bradley won the Best Mountain Operator distinction, and the Chachere family won the Best Customer award in the prestigious Ski New Mexico ‘Best of the Best’ competition.
These awards came immediately behind even more good news for the resort: Sipapu began making snow at 10 p.m. last Monday, October 25 – this marked the earliest start in Sipapu’s snow making history. Sipapu plans to open Saturday, November 20; resort officials say this opening date will most likely make Sipapu the first resort open in New Mexico. Sipapu has clenched this title for the last seven consecutive seasons.
Since joining Sipapu in 2001, Bradley has made a tremendous impact on the resort: under his leadership, Sipapu has doubled the number of trails and more than tripled the number of skier visits. During the 2009-2010 season alone, Bradley led Sipapu to break attendance records and post the best season in Sipapu’s 58-year history.
In spite of a brilliant resume, Bradley’s commitment to excellence and impeccable work ethic are what earned him the award, according to James Coleman, Sipapu’s managing partner.
“At a small resort like Sipapu, JP handles the work load of a dozen people at any other resort,” he said. “Yet in spite of this work load, JP treats every responsibility equally. He is committed to delivering the best product possible in every single thing he does. Our guests appreciate that attitude, and his co-workers and staff admire his leadership. We’ve always known JP is the Best of the Best – this outstanding honor makes it official.”
Glenn Chalker and Linda Chachere-Chalker of Tulsa, Okla., accepted the Best Customer honor, which was awarded to the entire Chachere family. Since 1960, the family has spent every Christmas at Sipapu; this Christmas will mark their 50th consecutive year.
“The Chachere family is among our all-time favorite guests,” Coleman said. “They are incredible stewards for Sipapu; over the years, they have brought at least 50 other family members and friends, and we know they consistently recommend our resort to others. We are thrilled that this family has earned the Best of the Best honor during their milestone year at our resort.”
Sipapu Ski and Summer Resort enters the 2010-2011 ski season as New Mexico’s fastest growing resort, yet visitors won’t have to wait in line for a lift. For complete information about Sipapu, visit www.SipapuNM.com.
