Find New Mexico True Love on the Lift at Sipapu
Sipapu Ski & Summer Resort and the New Mexico Tourism Department will be playing Cupid this Valentine’s weekend with the “New Mexico True Love on the Lift” event. On Friday, February 14, and Saturday, February 15, Sipapu will create two singles lines for Lift #1. Lift #1 is Sipapu's primary lift out of the base area that provides top-to-bottom mountain access. Singles from each line will ride the chairlift, get to know each other and see if sparks fly.
When the lifts close, guests can enjoy dinner for two in the lodge and, if all goes well, a free moonlight hike thereafter. The guided tour begins at 6:30 p.m. on the back porch of the lodge and will take visitors to mid-mountain where they will catch their breath, share hot chocolate and take in the moonlit view. Also on Saturday night, Santa Fe Brewing will be brewing beer on the patio and hosting the “Happy Hops Scavenger Hunt.”
"There's virtually no better way to make a connection with someone than to share something you love, so Sipapu provides the perfect backdrop for valentines who ski or snowboard," said Stacey Glaser, Sipapu Marketing Director. "Love on the Lift will give guests a commitment-free way for singles to meet, ride a lift together and determine if love is in this mountain air."
For couples who bring their kiddos during the Valentine's (and President's Day) weekend, Love on the Lift will also coincide with one of Sipapu's most popular family events of the year, February Fun Fest. This free festival begins Saturday, February 15 with costume contests, a costume parade, face painting, scavenger hunts, games and prizes. The pinnacle of the festival is Sipapu's trademark snow castle. At 2 to 3 stories tall, it's filled with slides, steps, tunnels and plenty of places for kids to play. The castle will remain open daily through early March.
